Registration of student teams to the IX Annual All-Russian Student Competition on constitutional justice "Crystal Themis" finished as scheduled on September 16, 2019.

On the results of registration, 37 university teams of the law schools will take part in the competition. 36 of them include future law professionals representing 24 Russian cities. Members of one team are law students in one of the CIS States.

The 2019/2020 Competition Problem concerns the issue of political parties’ spending. The title of the Competition is “Electoral Control, or the Case of Party Expenditures”.

In the course of the competition, teams are allowed to get assistance of a coach or coaches. On 23 September, the Organizer of the contest – Institute for Law and Public Policy – held a webinar designed to help the coaches. Maxim Timofeev – one of the originators of "Crystal Themis", as well as the expert of this competition – answered the questions of the webinar participants.

All registered teams are invited to participate in the preliminary round of the Competition, during which they study the Competition Problem and prepare procedural documents (memoranda) for the moot litigation brought before the Russian Constitutional Court – written pleadings for the applicant and for the state authorities.

The documents drafted by teams are submitted to the experts of the Competition for the evaluation. The best teams selected based on memoranda grades will participate in oral rounds. Two best teams will meet in the Final Oral Round to compete for the main award of the competition – Crystal Themis.

Registration of Judges for the moot court competition will open on 27 September and close on 31 October. Judges are experts on constitutional and international justice who grade teams memoranda and oral presentations.

If you wish to take part in the Competitions in the capacity of Judge, we kindly invite you to fill out the online registration form:
