On March 23, 2018 a seminar Strategic Judicial Protection of Advocates Secrets was held in Moscow. It was organized by the Institute for Law and Public Policy within the Project Using Constitutional and International Justice Mechanisms to Strengthen Human Rights Capabilities of the Russian Advokatura. The seminar was attended by 15 lawyers from Moscow, Lipetsk, Izhevsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Cheboksary.

The seminar was hosted by Vladimir Solovyov, a member of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, member of the Committee on Methodical Work of the Council of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, expert of the Information and Methodological Center for the International Protection of Human Rights under the Council of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and Grigory Vaypan, head of the ILPP Litigation Unit.

During the theoretical part of the seminar the participants considered the concept and purpose of advocates secrets, discussed examples of their strategic judicial protection at the Russian Constitutional Court  and the European Court of Human Rights.

The main attention was paid to practical exercises, during which the participants discussed  in groups the issues of protection of the legal secret in the conduct of searches, seizures and operative-search activities with regard to the lawyer (control and recording of negotiations, inspection of premises, etc.), advocacy secrecy when calling a lawyer for interrogation and defense of the lawyer's secret in the context of communication between the lawyer and the principal.
