Russian National Championship was established in 2002 by White & Case. Today the Championship is co-organized by White & Case and Threefold Legal Advisors LLC, together with the International Law Students Association (ILSA).

This year the Championship was hosted by Lomonosov Moscow State University and Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO). The Championship was organized with support from ABA ROLI, Pericles Law Center, Garant and Consultant Plus, and the European Society of International Law (ESIL). The main media partners were Mezhdunarodnoe Pravosudie law journal and Russian Law Journal.

The Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition is an advocacy competition for law students. Teams of law students compete against one another through the presentation of oral and written pleadings to address timely issues of public international law in the context of a hypothetical legal dispute between nations before the simulated International Court of Justice. The Competition established in 1959 by ILSA is one of the most prestigious law students competitions in the world, gathering more than 700 teams from more than 90 countries.
