04.09.2016 The seminar ‘A Complaint to the Constitutional Court of Russia: Opportunities, Risks and Prospects’ was held in Moscow on 2-3 September 2016.

25 lawyers took part in the seminar, including bar association members and lawyers practicing in non-profit and commercial sectors (from Yekaterinburg, Kirov, Moscow, Mytischi (Moscow region), Rostov-on-Don), a staff lawyer of Irkutsk Business Ombudsman, as well as representatives of the academic community.

A team of experts in the field of constitutional law and justice worked with the participants at the seminar: Maria Filatova (PhD, Associate Professor, Higher School of Economics, Department of Judicial Power and Justice Administration); Grigory Vaypan (head of the litigation practice of the Institute), and Olga Podoplelova (senior lawyer of the Institute).

During the seminar, participants had an opportunity to ask and discuss important practical issues and to get consultations on prospects of specific complaints and directions of their further improvement.

The audience appreciated practical importance of the seminar and a high standard of teaching.

At the seminar the following questions were discussed:

  •  What are the specifics of constitutional justice?
  • What should an applicant expect from the Constitutional Court of Russia?
  • What are the admissibility criteria for bringing a complaint to the Constitutional Court of Russia?
  • What are the main features and principles of conduct of the case in the Constitutional Court of Russia?
