The award ceremony of the contest ‘International law in the XXI century’ for the best work on public international law was held on May 19, 2016 within the framework of the VI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.   

Alexey Petrenko, whose work has been devoted to the analysis of a possibility of contesting state’s unilateral sanctions using the disputes settlement mechanism of the World Trade Organization, has become a winner. His full article will be published in the journal ‘Mezhdunarodnoe pravosudie’ (International justice) №2 2016, information partner of the contest since its inception. Alexey Petrenko graduated from Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University and obtained his Master's law degree from the University of Göttingen. Currently he is a doctoral researcher at the University of Göttingen.

Some of the Contest Council members took part in the award ceremony: T.N. Neshataeva (judge of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union) and H.W. Ivanyan (partner of the law firm ‘Ivanyan and partners’).

The contest is organized by the Foundation of legal research and legal education support together with the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum and the law firm ‘Ivanyan and partners’.
